The Gift of Fall – Part 4

And here we are at the end of the series –

Turtle Rock Segment

I didn’t take many stills on this walk, but I did take some video so I decided to run the stills in between the clips and narrate it instead of write. Hope it works and that you guys like it. Here’s a still to start you out –

So that’s the post. Yes? No? Like it or go back to normal and leave You Tube to itself?

  1. Having never hear you narrate a video, I don’t have a sense of your style. That’s okay as I rather like this mixed bag of photos and video. The walking along in the woods made me really miss the northern woodlands so much, so it was nice to walk along, look up and look down, and pause to look into the distance, noticing the leaves and trees and shapes. As you continue to make these videos, I will get a more clear sense of you as a video maker and commentator. For me, knowing and being familiar with a person’s style creates a comfort zone. Audio books are the closest parallel I can find, if this helps – some readers are soothing and fascinating, others irritating in some way or another. I look for the former and eschew the latter. Altogether, this is a success. You should post links to all your videos as the ones I have seen, silent or with music, have been quite beautiful. Nice work, Kris!

    1. Thanks for the feedback. I have a few other things up on You Tube, but I don’t really advertise it since I only use it for hosting. Toyed with the idea of putting up a dedicated Video page, but didn’t do it. Glad you enjoy them though. I haven’t shot anything in a few weeks and haven’t done video since the time of this post, but I have plenty of backlog!

  2. Hi, Kristin – I liked the video well enough and enjoyed hearing your narration. The music was jaunty, but I would have liked it toned way down or even omitted so that the natural sounds of walking in the rustling leaves and hearing the birdsongs would really bring the viewer into the experience. The only downside I can think of would be that people who are busy might not take time to watch a video, where they might quickly scroll thru your mail to see the images. BUT, the images no longer show in the mail and the link doesn’t work for me, as was the case in the last mail I looked at. In both cases, I’d have to strip out everything but the main URL, which takes me to your home page, and from there I could see links to each blog post.

    1. Thanks Pat – getting music and other audio tracks right is a challenge, and everyone has a different opinion on it. Next time I’ll see what I can do to balance things out. Agree that maybe a video and posting the shots and commentary like normal is a better tactic. Not sure why the emails are weird lately, but it might be because I changed plans here on the hosting site. I’ll look into it when I get a few minutes. Sorry it’s a pain.

      Kris
