Last bit and not too many more photos. Mostly because the locations weren’t very inspiring or even workable. As much as I like the guys, this was a HUGE disappointment and I really felt ripped off. I know they can’t control Mother Nature, but they KNEW the locations would be dry and unworkable and so should have had alternative sites. Grumble, grumble.
As cool as Lost Creek Falls are, just look at this trickle!

It’s like someone left the hose on! The group was well coordinated though, starting far back and moving in once everyone got what they wanted. This is a pano, one of the only ones I did, and I think it’s 3-5 images or so. I don’t do a lot of them and so I was happy to have the presence of mind for this one since it’s about the only thing I did get from here. Try as I might with direction from the leaders, I worked that little pool as well as I could, but nothing looks good to me. Then I got the idea to go up on some rocks behind the falling water where I got this –
It isn’t perfect, but I managed to get this before being called off to go to a complete zero of a park with absolutely nothing good going for it. Not the falls, not the light and not the attitudes of the leaders who just basically kept us herded at a viewpoint. We stood around and talked. It was so dumb and I’m still really mad about it. I would have loved the opportunity to keep working the water from in back or to go out into the forest and find more intimate landscapes and views. Grrr. Here’s a couple shots from the cell phone. Hopeless. Seriously. Ugh.

And it took FOREVER to get there. We drove by some lovely place on some nice roads (really wished I was in the sports car), but we never stopped except for this place. It takes quite a while to hike to the bottom and many of the participants would have never made it, plus there wasn’t time. Ok. Moving on. Sorry to be so crabby even months later.
The next day husband and I drove to Franklin to meet up with some friends for dinner and we stopped a few times. Once back at a site the group was at and then just for rural abandonment which is something I absolutely love to do when we have leisure, which we did.

The vultures in the tree and the air were just a bonus with this one –

This scene had a driveway across from it where we could park safely while I wandered into the field. I could hear a nearby rooster doing his thing and it was pretty cool. The colors were nicely vibrant and the light even. The clouds certainly helped add a bit of somberness to the scene which is a bit of a juxtaposition given the vibrancy.

We poked along back roads looking for little parks and ended up at one with an enormous parking lot, but shabby fences and falling down signs. I think it’s mostly used as a boat launch into the river (?), but it doesn’t get a lot of love. This was on the road leading in –

Even though we were going through a lot of rural country, we didn’t stop for much more and that was it for our trip. Mostly it was ok, but oy, it could have been better.
Next up will be my Best of for 2024 and hopefully after that winter will be here to stay and I can get out and play in the snow!
