Moody mushrooms

Yeah, fall is supposed to be all about the foliage, but I always like to buck a trend. Mushrooms offer endless subjects these days and hiking with me is basically an exercise in watching me put the camera on the beanbag and shoot another one. Since I always use natural light, sometimes I have to... Continue Reading →

More Mushroom Madness

Lately I have been a bit starved for inspiration. The same-old-same-old just isn't doing it for me. As a result, I shoot less. I'm not bothered by this. Ups and downs are part of my normal. When I do go in the woods I just can't see if you know what I mean. I think... Continue Reading →

Mushroom Madness

It's raining now and probably will for most of the week. That means more mushrooms, but it's not like we have a shortage now.   All were shot with the OM 90mm. I don't know what I'd do without that lens.

It is upon us

or perhaps at our feet. Mushroom season of course.  This year with a lot less rain, there will probably be a lot fewer 'shrooms about, but those that are are rarin' to go. I shot a few in full shade, but they are so flat and lifeless compared to this shot with the sun lighting... Continue Reading →

When It Becomes Visible

You know, I think I spend more time with my backpack off and it lying on the ground than I do actually wearing it!  Being that I spend so much time way down on the ground, photographing tiny things I think I need a different rig.  Or one that allows me to work differently.  But... Consequence

The weather and the hordes of mosquitoes have kept me from doing a lot of shooting, but I have been out.  The thing is that the shots don't really seem to go together.  Then I had a morbid thought about some of them.  Poison mushrooms and grave stones.  Heh.  It's ridiculously me and goes with... Spring Beauties

Back to your regularly scheduled program.  More nature stuff. I am a bit bummed at the moment because I came upon a very active great blue heron rookery the other day and my old 300mm lens isn't up to the task.  Most of my old legacy glass is still very good when paired with a... The Road Not Taken

You know that old saying, hindsight is 20/20?  Some days it smacks me right in the head.  The other day after a lovely few hours in the woods I thought to myself that I should have been a forester or something.  Hubby comes back to say that it doesn't pay much.  In money, no it... Autumn Harvest

While the season is by no means over, the peak color is draining rapidly.  A storm came through yesterday that probably knocked a lot of leaves off the trees and so I was even more glad to have gotten out in the days before.  Because of my health issue, my fall season was in jeopardy...
